Emotional Support Turtle
Emotional Support Turtle Crochet Pattern

Materials Needed
• Worsted weight yarn in green (turlte head, flippers and tail) and brown (for shell)
• Crochet hook: E (3.5 mm)
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Optional: 6mm or 8mm safety eyes (I used 9 mm eyes for the one pictured as it's what I had on hand)
• Optional: Small felt or fabric scrap for a “support sign” alternatively you could use cardstock
Abbreviations (US Terms)
MR = Magic Ring
sc = single crochet
inc = increase (2 sc in same stitch)
dec = decrease (single crochet 2 together) I prefer the invisible decrease
sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
FO = Fasten Off
Head
Make a magic ring. Work 6 sc into the ring. (6 sts)
Round 1: inc in each stitch around. (12 sts)
Round 2: (sc in 1 st, inc) repeat around. (18 sts)
Round 3: (sc in 2 st, inc) repeat around. (24 sts)
Round 4: (sc in 3 sts, inc) repeat around. (30 sts)
Rounds 5-10: sc around. (30 sts) (Place safety eyese between Rounds 9 and 10, about 6 stitches apart)
Round 11: (sc in 3 st, dec) repeat around. (24 sts)
Round 12: (sc in 2 sts, dec) repeat around. (18 sts)
Round 13: (sc in 1 st, dec) repeat around. (12 sts)
Stuff Firmly
Dec around (6 sts)
FO and close the hole
Shell/Body
Make a magic ring. Work 6 sc into the ring. (6 sts)
Round 1: inc in each stitch around. (12 sts)
Round 2: (sc in 1 st, inc) repeat around. (18 sts)
Round 3: (sc in 2 st, inc) repeat around. (24 sts)
Round 4: (sc in 3 sts, inc) repeat around. (30 sts)
Round 5: (sc in 4 sts, inc) repeat around. (36 sts)
Round 6-9: sc around (36 sts) Round 10: (sc in 4 st, dec) repeat around. (30 sts)
Round 11: (sc in 3 sts, dec) repeat around. (24 sts)
Round 12: (sc in 2 st, dec) repeat around. (18 sts)
Round 13: (sc in 1 st, dec) repeat around. (12 sts) Stuff Firmly
Dec around (6 sts)
FO and close the hole
Flippers (Make 2 Front + 2 Back in Green)
Make a magic ring. Work 6 sc into the ring. (6 sts)
Round 1: (sc in 1 st, inc) repeat around. (9 sts)
Round 2-4: SC around (9 sts)
Round 5: (sc in 1 st, dec) repeat around. (6 sts)
FO, stuff lightly, and sew front flippers pointing slightly forward and downward.
Sew hind flippers to the base angled outward to support the sitting position.
Tail (Green)
Make a magic ring. Work 4 sc into the ring. (4 sts)
Round 2-3: SC around (4 sts)
FO, and sew to the center back just above the base.
Optional:
Add Emotional Support Sign
• Cut a small rectangle of felt or fabric.
• Write “Emotional Support Turtle” using a fine-tip fabric pen.
• Tie it around your turtle with a small piece of yarn or string.
• Embroider a small uplifiting word or phrase like "Shine" "Peace" "Loved" or "You Got This" on the top of the shell using contrasting yarn
Assembly
• Sew head to the front-top edge of the shell.
• Attach flippers and tail securely.
• Flatten the base and sew on the bottom circl to support the upright pose.
• Weave in all ends
Your turtle is now ready to provide emotional support wherever needed!
• Keep in your pocket, car, desk, or gift to a friend.
